No, not books about porn. More like cover art that has me adding the book to my wishlist and/or to-be-bought list with all due haste. What are the books about? Uhh... Well, I've included the Good Reads synopsis for that. The cover alone is worth me considering reading the book. While I would usually not rule out a book because of its cover, I certainly rule them in.

The same questions whirl round and round in my head:

How could I have let this happen?

I'm being lazy about writing the 7 reviews that I should get done, but I couldn't resist sharing these. And, I'll get on those reviews in a bit. There'll be some new content on the blog this weekend, I swear!
Meanwhile, let me know what you think of the covers that I have posted. Agree? Disagree? Have one you want to add? Leave a comment, and I'll choose a random winner to receive a Clockwork Angel bookmark and a sample of Cassandra Clare's submission in Zombies vs. Unicorns. Ends Tuesday, Sept. 21 (noon, est).
I don't like the "Entangled" book cover. It just looks like the woman has too much hair in her face. And too many covers do the "windblown hair" thing.
ReplyDelete*sigh*
In response to VC, I do agree to an extent. However, there is still something alluring about the cover. I can't wait to see a UK cover of this one, though!
ReplyDeleteThose are good covers, there was only one that I wasn't crazy about.
ReplyDeleteThe first three were super!
I also had a couple of cover related posts on my blog recently, and I think you might like them.

@ VC: Fair points. It could be argued that the close-up, and half-obscured face is somewhat overdone, also. But, I really like the striking red of her hair and the peek of matching nails. Plus, the tribalistic design that is just off enough to NOT look like a tattoo. (It slightly overlaps her finger in two places.)
ReplyDelete@ Cass: Agreed. Even if it might have a "cliched" appearance. Something about the art for Entangled draws my eye. It is alluring to me. But, I too, would love to see how the UK/International covers turn out.
@ Deepali: Which one didn't you like? Discuss! :-) I didn't post my breakdown because I wanted to people to feel free to comment, but I will say that several of the covers I chose for individual elements in the art, as opposed to the overall picture, or how "overused" the type of art may be in its particular genre.

ReplyDeleteI REALLY like the Entangled and River Marked covers!!! I will have to add Entangled to my Goodreads! Thanks :)
ReplyDeleteI like the Entangled cover because of the contrast of the red hair against pale skin. And the design by the words almost look like a tattoo. Also, the Marbury Lens cover is intriguing and makes me want to learn more about the book.
