Book Blast Blitz: Promise to Marry (Promise to Marry #1) by Jessica Wood

About the Author:

Jessica Wood writes contemporary romance novels.

While she has lived in countless cities throughout the U.S., her heart belongs to San Francisco. To her, there’s something seductively romantic about the Golden Gate Bridge, the steep rolling hills of the city streets, the cable cars, and the Victorian-style architecture.

She loves a strong, masculine man with a witty personality. While she is headstrong and extremely independent, she can’t resist a man who takes control of the relationship, both outside and inside of the bedroom. ;)

She loves to travel internationally, and tries to plan a yearly trip abroad. She also loves to cook and bake, and—to the benefit of her friends—she loves to share. She also enjoys ceramics and being creative with her hands. She has a weakness for good (maybe bad) TV shows; she’s up-to-date on over 25 current shows, and no, that wasn’t a joke.

And it goes without saying, she loves books—they’re like old and dear friends who have always been there to make her laugh and make her cry.

The one thing she wishes she had more of, is time.

We were best friends since as early as I could remember. We grew up together. We were next door neighbors. We shared each other's deepest secrets. When I was thirteen, we made a pact: if we were still single by the time we were 30, we'd marry each other.

Today was my thirtieth birthday. I was single. I knew he was single too.

But we were no longer best friends, and a part of me knew that he hated me.

Excerpt from Fractured Lines:

I lowered my face even more. “I need you so damn bad. Let me kiss you. Let me make it better. I know how to make it all better.”

I brushed my lips across hers gently, testing her reaction. She kissed me back. So soft I barely felt it, and yet I somehow felt it down to my soul.

With a small groan, I closed my mouth over hers, crushing her against my chest and holding her so tightly I might have broken a rib. Man, I’d been waiting for this moment. For her to stop shutting me out. For her to want me as much as I needed her.

And now it was happening.

I slanted my mouth over hers, taking full control of the kiss. Backing her up against the wall, my tongue glided inside her mouth at the same time I slipped my leg in between hers. She gasped and opened her mouth wider, granting me full access.

Without hesitation, I took it, and then I took some more. Like the greedy asshole I really was. Part of me knew I should stop kissing her until I was better, but the other part of me wanted her too damn badly to give a shit about anything else. When I closed my hands around her hips, my fingers digging into the soft sides of her ass, she broke off the kiss and took a shaky breath.

I latched onto her neck, biting with just enough pressure to sting. It had been too long since I’d had her. Too long since I’d held her. Too long for everything. My injured leg protested against the weight I put on it, but I ignored the cry of protest it gave. Any pain I had to suffer was worth it, as long as Carrie was in my arms again, making those small sounds that drove me fucking insane.

Fractured Lines (Out of Line #4)
Adult Contemporary Romance
Expected Publication: 14 October 2014

The lines we once crossed so easily have widened and torn us apart…

Once upon a time I thought Finn and I would live happily ever after, but real life doesn't always have a happy ending. He's testing my trust, and I'm losing faith in the man I thought I'd spend the rest of my life with, and there’s nothing I do can stop it. He’s the one I trusted to keep me safe, but now he’s the source of my greatest pain…

Forgiveness is fragile, and some fractures never fully heal...

One mistake—a slip in a moment of weakness—might cost me everything I've worked so hard for. The thing about trust is that it's a lot easier to lose than it is to build. Just as I'm about to give up and surrender to the demons from my past, an unexpected threat reminds me what I'm best at: protecting the woman I love. Whether or not she wants me, I will fight for Carrie and our daughter, and I will keep them safe—no matter the cost.

Even if I have to put my life and my heart on the line.

Website | Facebook | Twitter | Tumblr | Newsletter Signup

Excerpt from As Long As You Love Me:

Mom was asleep, so I checked my email. I had the usual spam, plus notes from all my former roomies, which made me happy. I missed all of them, even Max, though things were unspeakably awkward between us at the end. I opened Nadia’s first:

LB! You know I miss you like crazy, right? Courtney’s in your bed right now, and she has completely alphabetized my books. I’m pretty sure there will be a lending library program implemented the next time I get home from work. So how’s Nebraska? Did you find a job yet? Have you started applying to any schools? I have like ten more questions but you’ll get grumpy if I dump them on you all at once. Hug and kiss my family for me, okay? Write back soon or I’m sending my brother to track you down.

She didn’t mention the hot single dad she’d broken up with right before I left. Mr. Hot Ginger had dumped Nadia for her own good, which would drive her quietly crazy. I’d felt horrible about the timing, but there was little I could do about it. I hadn’t gotten to know him well before I left, but Ty seemed like a good guy. He was only a few years older than us, but already had a four-year-old. That was the crux of the conflict.

Writing back, I didn’t quite nail the tone, talking about Rob too much and inventing interesting anecdotes because there was so little going on. I could’ve mentioned Krista, but Nadia had never been as close to her, and there was some tension by the time she moved. Mostly I didn’t want Nadia to worry; things would be fine once I got a job and had less time to fret about whether I made the right decision.

I opened Angus’s email next:

Hey, you. Got your check. It appears not to be rubber, but I said you didn’t have to pay me back. I hate you for leaving. Come back right now. I’ll wait. This is me, waiting. It’s been at least five minutes. You’re shattering my faith in humanity, Lauren. Take responsibility for it! Not sure what you’ve heard from Nadia, but she’s such a hot mess. I can’t believe you abandoned us. All the light has left my life. All of it! Okay, enough drama. I’m working on getting over Josh. Classes suck but I will survive. (You’re singing it now, aren’t you?)

“Damn you, Angus Starr. You know me too well.” I got up on my bed with a hairbrush and sang two verses before reading on.

In all seriousness, there is a Lauren-sized hole in my life. Please don’t lose touch. Write soon. Love and hugs, Angus.

It was simpler writing back to Angus; our friendship was sweet and uncomplicated. Briefly I considered deleting Max’s email without opening it, but that seemed like an asshole move. In the end, I read it, two lines only:   I’m sorry about everything. Take care of yourself.

Cover Reveal: Filthy Beautiful Lust (Filthy Beautiful Lies #3) by Kendall Ryan

About the Author:

Kendall Ryan is the New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of contemporary romance novels, including Hard to Love, Unravel Me, Resisting Her and When I Break.

She's a sassy, yet polite Midwestern girl with a deep love of books, and a slight addiction to lipgloss. She lives in Minneapolis with her adorable husband and two baby sons, and enjoys hiking, being active, and reading.

Website | Facebook | Twitter | Pinterest | Newsletter

Excerpt from Filthy Beautiful Lust:

Pace

I take a sip of the liquor and immediately decide drinking is a bad idea. I'm already on edge and frustrated. The alcohol will only make me obsess more. Abandoning the glass, I sit down in a leather chair across from Colton and let out a heavy sigh. "Tell me about Kylie."

His gaze narrows. "Fuck no. You and Kylie?" He shakes his head, rising to his feet. "No. Abso-fucking-lutely not. If this is what you came here to talk about, you can leave now." He points to the door, his expression unwavering.

Goddamn. "You're no fun." Changing my mind, I stride over to the cabinet, pluck up the glass and down the rest of the drink. It burns like a mother fucker on the way down, but it'll do the trick, numbing whatever this weird sensation is inside my chest.

"I'm serious, Pace. She's a good girl. She doesn't need to get tangled up in your…ways…"

"My ways?" Now I'm getting pissed. He's saying I'm not good enough for her.

"Hit it and quit it. Pump and dump. Whatever you want to call it, it's not happening. Not with Kylie."

"I know that, asshole. I wanted to take her out – like legitimately take her out to dinner. Enjoy her company."

He frowns at me again, that crease in his forehead deepening. "You're telling me you don't want to fuck her?"

"Don't be a dumbfuck. Of course I want to. But I'm just saying that I wouldn’t hit it once and never call her again."

"What would you do, then? Move in? Marry her? Raise her son?" he challenges.

"I haven’t thought that fucking far ahead. Christ." Now I'm suddenly pacing the floor of his office and I have no idea why. This entire exchange is stressing me out. I came here hoping to get her number, and instead I'm getting grilled like a steak. He's pulling the older brother card on me like he does so often. The dick.

"And that's exactly why I don't want you messing around with her. You don't have a plan. Kylie needs a man with a plan. Not one with an agenda that only includes getting his crank yanked."

I sink down into the chair, hating this concerned older brother act.

Filthy Beautiful Lust (Filthy Beautiful Lies #3)
Adult Contemporary Romance
Expected Publication: 10 November 2014

From New York Times & USA Today bestselling author, Kendall Ryan, comes the third book in the Filthy Beautiful Lies series.

Pace Drake loves sex. He knows where get it, what to say, what to do, and he makes no apologies for satisfying his needs. But when he meets single mom, Kylie Sloan, he's enthralled by her, and begins to question his standard operating procedure. After all, there's no chase, no mystery when banging a woman in a nightclub bathroom. Kylie's depth and determination make the sloppy, drunken hookups that fill his weekends seem empty and shallow. She's the opposite of the desperate, clingy women he's used to. She doesn’t want or need anyone to take care of her and that only makes him want to care for her more.

Kylie's trust in men has vanished. The last guy she was with played ding-dong-ditch-it with her uterus and left her with a baby to raise. Now her infant son is the only man she has time for, even if she misses sex and intimacy more than she'd ever admit. Opening her heart up to a younger man who's best known for no-strings-attached sex and his casual lifestyle is probably the worst idea she's ever had. But Pace wants to prove to her there are still a few good guys left, and watching the sweet way he interacts with her baby makes her want to try…but she can really trust that his days of hitting it and quitting it are in his past?

Filthy Beautiful Lust is the third book in the Filthy Beautiful Lies series, however it can be read as a standalone novel (no cliffhanger). To understand the full growth and development of the characters, it is recommended that you begin with book 1, Filthy Beautiful Lies.

Excerpt from Love, In Spanish:

"Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned."

I turn in my chair and give Vera a curious look. Yet another English saying that I don't know. "I'm afraid I don't understand."

She gives me a soft but tired smile and sits down on the arm rest. I immediately wrap my arm around her waist and pull her down into my lap, where she comes to a rest with a giggle, her hair obscuring the impish smile on her face. No matter where she is, I can never stop touching her and now more than ever I need her to relax, to feel safe, to know I'm going to get us out of this.

"Explain," I demand. "Or I will punish you with kisses."

She raises her brow. "Followed by punishment by penis?"

I shrug. "That can be arranged. Now, tell me my Estrella."

She sighs and buries her lips into my neck. I can't help the small moan that escapes from me, nor my hardness building beneath her plump, round ass. I close my eyes and fight the urge to pick her up and take her to the bedroom, the only other way I know how to make her feel safe and sated, the only way I know how to escape.

"Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned," she says against my throat, "is a saying. I don't know where it's from but it means, well, nothing is scarier than a pissed off bitch." She pauses, sucking in her breath and I know she fears she's said the wrong thing. "Sorry," she quickly adds and I feel her body tense up beneath my fingers. "I didn't mean that Isabel is a bitch."

She is still so skittish over her words, the way she blurts things out, but it's one of the reasons why I love her. I cup the back of her head with my hand and let the softness of her hair sink over me. "I know you didn't," I assure her. "And, well, she is being a bitch."

"Can you blame her though?" she asks, her voice rising a pitch and when she pulls away from me, her eyes are wet. It breaks my heart. I'm getting tired of my heart breaking and I know that this isn't going to change anytime soon. Every day there is another weight on us, another crack appears.

"No," I tell her honestly. "I cannot blame her."

A silence lapses over us, heavy like a wool cloak. It does this sometimes. What we've done, it coats us.

Finally she clears her throat. "She's going to hurt for a long time," she says. "She's going to be angry. This isn't going away. I thought everything was behind us now, that she'd move on. You've been divorced for a year, if she's still this mad a year out..."

"She is mad because I am going back to Atletico," I tell her. "She is mad because of the paparazzi, the way they are hounding us again. She is mad because she feels she is being made to look like a fool. If I had just stayed with my head down, she wouldn't be doing this."

"But you can't live your life in fear, Mateo," she tells me.

I smile at her and brush her sunset hair from her face. "And neither can you."

She settles back against my body, sinks, conforms, melds. She is second skin. She is a part of myself I can't bear to separate from. I pray I never have to. I pray we can survive whatever is coming our way.

And I can feel it coming, that tension, that storm rolling in the weeks and days.

I pick her up in my arms and for all her pillowy curves, she weighs nothing more than a feather. I take her down the hall to the bedroom, throw her on the bed. She glows in the afternoon sun that streams in through our window and it isn't long before we are both naked and I am climbing over her, pinning her arms above her head and drinking in her body like the most beautiful, decadent wine.

I will devour her until all of this is gone.

I will consume her until we are all that's left.

I push inside her and let my hunger take over.

“She sat beside me on the bus – and she changed my whole life.”

Successful, wealthy and absurdly handsome – Spanish ex-football player Mateo Casalles seemed like he had it all. Love, in English (LIE #1)
New Adult Contemporary Romance
Published: 20 April 2014 by Metal Blonde Books

He speaks Spanish. I speak English.

He lives in Spain. I live in Canada.

He dresses in thousand-dollar suits. I’m covered in tattoos.

He’s married and has a five-year old daughter.

I’m single and can’t commit to anyone or anything.

Until now. Because when they say you can’t choose who you fall in love with, boy ain’t that the f*#king truth.

***

To a restless dreamer like Vera Miles, it sounded like the experience of a lifetime. Instead of spending her summer interning for her astronomy major, she would fly to Spain where she’d spend a few weeks teaching conversational English to businessmen and women, all while enjoying free room and board at an isolated resort. But while Vera expected to get a tan, meet new people and stuff herself with wine and paella, she never expected to fall in love.

Mateo Casalles is unlike anyone Vera has ever known, let alone anyone she’s usually attracted to. While Vera is a pierced and tatted free spirit with a love for music and freedom, Mateo is a successful businessman from Madrid, all sharp suits and cocky Latino charm. Yet, as the weeks go on, the two grow increasingly close and their relationship changes from purely platonic to something…more.

Something that makes Vera feel alive for the first time.

Something that can never, ever be.

Or so she thinks.

Excerpt from Dare to Submit:
***Excerpt below is intended for readers 18+***

At work and in his personal life, Decklan laid out the facts and the truth. He didn’t tolerate B.S. or lies. With this woman, who eyed him with an intense amount of distrust coupled with a healthy dose of desire, at least when she thought he wasn’t looking, he intended to do the same.

They sat together at the bar. He ordered two club sodas and let her drink in silence, waiting until she was definitely over whatever had happened with Mike. She was. The tense quiet between them now had everything to do with them. She didn’t trust him and his gut said the reasons went deep.

When she put down her drink and met his gaze, he decided it was time.

“I’m Decklan Dare.” He held out his hand.

“Amanda Collins.” She accepted the gesture, placing her smaller palm against his.

He immediately slid a thumb over the pulse point in her wrist, pleased with the rapid beat that told him she wasn’t immune. Just wary.

Wary he could deal with. Now that he was here, he was in for the night.

She attempted to tug her hand back but he held on tight, keeping his thumb pressed against her skin. It was his human lie detector and with this one, he felt sure he’d need it.

“Thank you again for stepping in. Mike was an ass.” She bit down on her plump lower lip.

Fuck, he’d like to do the same. He merely nodded in agreement. “I’ve seen Mike in action before. At least he’s gone for good now.” He smiled. “So tell me, Amanda, what were you looking for – before your night was so rudely interrupted?”

A rapid increase in her pulse beat in her wrist. He did his best not to grin wider. In the wake of her silence, he decided to cut her some slack. “How about I tell you what I’m looking for instead?”

“I’m listening.” She blinked at him, brown eyes wide.

He rested their joined hands on the bar. “I’ll start with what I don’t want. No protocol. No games Just hot sweaty sex,” he told her, his cock tenting his dark jeans at the notion of sliding into her tight, wet sheath.

Her eyes darkened with hunger at his honest words. Beneath his thumb, her pulse was racing with the same desire beating inside him. Good, he thought, he’d read her correctly. Earlier, he hadn’t seen a woman looking to submit, he’d seen a female in need.

And their needs were obviously in sync. “I want you, Amanda. I want to get you out of here and indulge in what I’ve jerked off to since laying eyes on you months ago. I want my fingers on that gorgeous ass, my cock, burying itself inside you –“

“You had me at I want you,” she said. “There was no need to ruin a good thing with lies.” She rose to her feet, ready to bolt.

“I don’t like being insulted,” he warned, stopping her with his words and stern tone. He narrowed his gaze. “You said you don’t know me, so how can you think I’m lying? “ He tightened his grip on her hand.

“If you wanted me that much, you would have approached me months ago and as for my ass, it’s too large and –“

“Enough.” He changed his mind. Submission was definitely on tonight’s agenda. “Are you with me tonight?” he asked her.

She swallowed hard, the delicate lines of her throat moved up and down as she pondered the question. Slowly she nodded.

He swiveled in his chair and pointed to his lap. “Then lay down. That’s ten for calling me a liar. Your ass is spectacular. Lush, round and made for my hand.” He patted his lap again.

No way could she miss the outline of his cock pressing hard and insistent against his pants.

“I don’t … we didn’t negotiate.”

“True.” He nodded, annoyed that she got inside his head so badly he forgot the important things. “Is spanking a hard limit?”

“No,” she whispered, her eyes dilating at the thought.

“No what?” he asked. “Protocol isn’t what I’m looking for.” He didn’t want to be called Sir or Master. He did want his name on her perfect lips. Eventually he’d get them on his cock.

“No, Decklan,” she said, her voice still soft.

“Exhibition?” he asked.

She glanced nervously around the room. Most people seemed involved in their own play. Max watched from across the bar. Decklan didn’t give a shit.

“It has been. In the past.”

He heard a but in there and raised an eyebrow.

“But I’m willing to try. With you.”

Her breath hitched and satisfaction soared through him.

“Are you wearing underwear?”

A tiny shake of her head. Blood rushed out of his, all of it headed south.

“Then lift that skirt and lay down or say Red and we can both head home. Separately.” Everything inside him stilled as he waited. The choice was hers. The power hers. If she walked away, he might not survive it. Another reason he hadn’t approached before now.

Eyes wide, her gaze never leaving his, she faced him. Her cheeks flushed a sexy shade of pink. And ever so slowly, she raised her skirt, walked the few steps closer, and thank God, lowered herself over his lap. She shifted, getting comfortable, wriggling against his rock hard erection, and he groaned aloud.

He glanced down and faced every fantasy he had and then some. Her ass was round and pale, two beautiful globes waiting for his hand. He’d trained at this club, enjoyed it for a time, but had been tempted to leave it for awhile now.

But her?

He was nowhere near ready to walk away. He smoothed his hand over one cheek, then the other, her skin butter soft and beckoning. She stiffened at first, but as he caressed her with one hand, she relaxed beneath his touch and his cock perked up at her easy submission.

“Do you know why you’re in this position?” he asked, squeezing her cheek to make sure she was paying attention.

“I said that you lied.”

He had to lean closer to hear her. “Your ass is gorgeous,” he said, emphasizing his words with his first smack.

“Ouch!” She wriggled beneath him.

“Quiet.” He followed the first with two more, one on the other cheek, the third closer to her thigh. The sound and the crack of his hand blended together for him, giving him a rush he hadn’t experienced in awhile. “I know you don’t know me, but you will. I don’t lie,” he told her, connecting with her flesh. Four. Her ass pinkened beautifully, his marks glowing on her skin.

She no longer made a sound, but her hands clasped his calves through the denim of his jeans and a moan echoed up towards him. “Your sweet ass is the first thing I noticed about you.” Five. His hand stung and he came down on her once more. This time she arched into his hand and satisfaction filled him. Six was slightly harder, and he finished up with seven, eight, nine and ten.

Small whimpers escaped her lips, reaching his ears. This was what he hadn’t seen in her before. The total surrender to her feelings. His gut told him there’d be tears in those eyes, not as much from the pain because he’d gone easy, but from her giving in. She’d earned the release she needed and he was all too happy to give it to her, despite the fact that he knew once he slid his fingers into her wet heat, he wouldn’t be walking away any time soon.
