Reading Challenge 2011: Audio Book Challenge

During the summer and fall of 2010, I read about a dozen audio books. Though, I haven't reviewed any to date, I really like the idea of pushing myself to embrace all of the different book formats, in the coming year. I also think that by participating, there is a greater possiblility that I will make more time in my blog schedule to review the audio books that I do read.

This is another challenge that was previously hosted by Alaine at Queen of Happy Endings, but the duties have been taken over by Teresa's Reading Corner. Click over to see the complete details.

Here are the different levels:

Curious: 3 Audio Books
Fascinated: 6 Audio Books
Addicted: 12 Audio Books
Obsessed: 20 Audio Books

My goal is to hit Addicted. As I figure out the books that will be a part of the challenge, or as I complete them, I will return to this post and compose a list.

Happy Reading in 2011!

Reading Challenge 2011: 100+ Challenge

According to Good Reads, which I have been a member of since March 2010, I have read 155 books so far. This is the place that I record all of the books that I read, as long as it's in their database, so I can keep a tally of my progress. Not only are the winter months (where I definitely read more) not represented in my GoodReads total, I know that there are, at least, another 30-40 books that were either not in the Good Reads database, or were re-reads that I didn't record. Since, it seems that 100 books is no problem for me, I am going to try this challenge for 2011.

My Overstuffed Bookshelf is hosting this challenge, whose target is just like it says: To read 100+ books from January 1, 2011 to December 31. Click over to see more details.

I will be coming back to this post and adding the books that I read as I go along.

Happy Reading in 2011!

Reading Challenge 2011: Debut Author Challenge

In addition to the adult reads that I feature on the blog, I have a personal love of YA. In 2010, I probably reviewed just as many YA reads as adult, so I thought that I would participate in the Debut Author Challenge for 2011.

The Story Siren hosts this challenge, and all of the information and guidelines can be found there.

The target is to read 12 debut YA author books from January 1, 2011 to December 31, 2011. While I am not quite sure which books I will actually be able to read, here is a list of the YA debuts that I am most anticipating for the coming year.

Across the Universe by Beth Revis

Angelfire by Courtney A. Moulton
A Touch Mortal by Leah Clifford

Reading Challenge 2011: E-Book Challenge

I've been a fan of romance e-books for several years now. Yes, reading them on my computer screen wasn't ideal, but it didn't turn me off. Plus, the instant gratification of buying an e-book and reading it within seconds is hard to beat. Now that I have my NOOK e-reader, I am even happier reading e-books of all genres. Which leads me to this challenge that I've seen around the blogosphere:

Alaine at Queen of Happy Endings has handed over hosting duties to The Ladybug Reads. All the details can be found by clicking the link. The challenge runs from January 1, 2011 to December 31, 2011.

There are four levels and any genre of book, as long as it is an e-book, counts:

Curious: Read 3 e-books

Fascinated: Read 6 e-books

Addicted: Read 12 e-books

Obsessed: Read 20 e-books

I am going to go for Addicted. I'm pretty sure that I could easily read one e-book per month. I will return to this post to list the books that I read, once I have an idea what they will be.

Happy Reading in 2011!

Reading Challenge 2011: Book Blogger Recommendation Challenge

One of the great things about book blogging is the community and absolute love of books and reading that I have found. There are many books that I might not have read if I had not started my blog, and I love the excitement in which fellow bloggers share their favorite books and authors. In that spirit, I am going to participate in the Book Blogger Recommendation Challenge that runs from January 1, 2010 to December 31, 2010.

Reading With Tequila is hosting, and all of the rules are over at her blog. The books must come from the Book Blogger Recommendation List.

The Levels:
Level I Read 5 books
Level II Read 10 books
Level III Read 15 books
Level IV Read 20 books
Level V Read 20+ books

I am going to attempt Level III. The following list may change, but here are the books that I want to read for the challenge:

Paranormalcy by Kiersten White
The Forest of Hands and Teeth by Carrie Ryan
My Soul to Take by Rachel Vincent
Inside Out by Maris V. Snyder
Willow by Julia Hoban
If I Stay by Gayle Forman
Before I Fall by Lauren Oliver

Unholy Ghosts by Stacia Kane
City of Ghosts by Stacia Kane
Bitten by Kelley Armstrong
Dreamfever by Karen Marie Moning
Darkfever by Karen Marie Moning

Plain Truth by Jodi Picoult
Simply Irresistible by Jill Shalvis
Laid Bare by Lauren Dane

Reading Challenge 2011: Men In Uniform

For 2011, I am going to attempt to focus my reading a little more by participating in a few challenges. There are so many different challenges sponsored by bloggers out there, that pretty much every reading taste and style can be acommodated. The following few posts that I submit will outline the challenges that I have chosen to do for the coming year.

Men in Uniform Reading Challenge

The Book Vixen is hosting Men In Uniform from January 1, 2011 to December 31, 2011. Complete rules and sign-up can be found by clicking over to her blog.

Here are the reading targets:

Sergeant: Read 1–5 men in uniform novels
Lieutenant: Read 6–10 men in uniform novels
Captain: Read 11–15 men in uniform novels
Chief: Read 16+ men in uniform novels

I am going to try for Captain. Once I know the books that I intend to read, I will come back to this post and plug in the list.

Happy Reading in 2011!
