Teaser from Boarded by Love:

He groans softly against my lips as he nods his head, his nose moving along mine. We’re basically one; we’re so close, and I don’t think I ever want him to go anywhere else. The air around us is sizzling, and I find myself fighting for my next breath.

“I want you so bad I can’t see straight.”

Boarded by Love (Bellevue Bullies #1)
New Adult Contemporary Romance
Expected Publication: 8 September 2014

Jude Sinclair here, hockey player for the Bellevue Bullies and lover of all ladies.

Hockey’s in my blood, and not to sound full of myself, but I’m good at it…really good. The draft is within my reach—it’s mine to take—but that’s not the only reason people know my name. They know me because of my way with women. They know the score, and I aim to please. I just tend to stay away from repeat performances. In other words, I don’t do relationships beyond my family and friends. I’m happy with life. However, I should warn you that my story and how I see it playing out is about to change due to a certain redhead on campus.

She’s beautiful. Stunning. Breathtaking.

She’s my game changer.

He’s trouble from the moment I see him. I don’t know what I’m thinking, but from the moment I meet his gaze, I’m his. It’s a scary feeling.

I’ve never trusted anyone outside my aunt and uncle—and even that took months. I didn’t have it easy growing up. My mom was usually strung out, and she didn’t give me a second thought. Drugs and the men who paid her were more important to her. It was horrible, but I’m stronger today. Because of my past, security is what I need most. Money assures me that I can take care of myself today, tomorrow, and next month. I don’t want to ever be hungry or go without again, so I work hard for every penny.

Oh, by the way, I’m Claire Anderson. I’m a hard-studying sophomore at the University of Bellevue, dancer for the school dance team, and a burlesque dancer at a club, but that’s my secret. You may think you know how our story ends, but you have no clue. It’s not easy falling in love… or living happily ever after. At first it may seem so, but when is anything worth having ever won without a fight?

Especially when you’re boarded by love.

Teaser from Whiskey Prince:

Lacing my fingers with Amberlyn’s, I bring them to my lips, placing a soft kiss on her knuckles before looking deep into her eyes. Her hair is up today, in a tight bun, her eyes are dark with makeup, and her lips lush and pink. Leaning forward, I brush my mouth over hers as her hand comes to rest on my cheek. I want to deepen the kiss but we have an audience, so reluctantly, I pull away, smiling slightly. “Hi.”

She smiles. “Hi. Great entrance there.”

I grin bashfully. “I only came to tell you I was madly thinking about you all day, not with the intentions of all that. I apologize.”

Her lips curve further before she runs her thumb along my bottom lip. “No worries, but I am confused on something.”

Her eyes are teasing, her lips plump, and all my anger from before is gone, replaced with pure lust for this beautiful woman. “And that is?”

“When did I become your girl?”

I smile, my cheeks dusting with color as I pull her closer to me. “The moment I kissed you. You didn’t get the memo?”

She shakes her head, biting into her bottom lip as she holds my gaze. She says, “No, must have lost its way to me.”

“Must have,” I say, bringing our mouths together again. This time I don’t care about the audience, and I hate that the bar is between us. I want to feel her against me, get lost in her kiss, but before I can, I hear someone clear their throat, causing us to part quickly.

The Whiskey Prince
Contemporary Romance
Expected Publication: 14 July 2014

Take a risk.
Do something drastic.
Fall in love.

When Amberlyn Reilly loses her mother, her whole world comes crashing down. Having been caretaker to her for most of her teenage years, Amberlyn is inexperienced in many aspects of life. She hasn’t had time to live, have fun, or enjoy even the little things. It’s only when a letter from her mother, asking her to fulfill three things, sends her off to Ireland to live a life she never thought possible that she begins to heal.

Declan O’Callaghan was born and raised in Ireland and has his family’s legendary whiskey in his veins. He’s shy and not a fan of the pressure and spotlight that comes with his family name, or the title he was given at birth—the Whiskey Prince. Declan knows just what he wants and that is to take over the family dynasty, but when his father gives him an ultimatum, everything he’s worked for could come undone in the blink of an eye.

With six months to get married, the reclusive Declan spots Amberlyn across a lake and instantly feels the need to know her. Soon, the two find themselves traveling down a path neither expected. However, like any road, there are bumps and side streets to derail them. Can Declan help find the pieces that will make Amberlyn whole again? And will Amberlyn stay or run when she learns of Declan’s deadline of marriage?

Teaser Tuesday: Phoenix by Elizabeth Richards

“I’m not exactly the guy you fell in love with,” I say.

“That’s true,” she says, placing a hand over my racing heart. “You’re better. You sacrificed yourself to save me, Ash. Trust me; that earned you a few extra boyfriend points.”

I grin. “Maybe I can stick to buying you flowers in the future?”

Teaser Tuesday is Back!

After taking a months long break from any memes on the blog, I have decided to return to Teaser Tuesday. My Google Reader is full of other bloggers who also participate, and I've missed doing bookish posts that aren't reviews or giveaways. I always thought that Teaser Tuesday was a good way to share what I am currently reading.

Here's how it goes:

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

* Grab your current read
* Open to a random page
* Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
* BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
* Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

I've got two romances this week. The first is a historical (Regency) and the second is a paranormal. Enjoy!

Ten Ways to Be Adored When Landing a Lord (The Ralstons, #2)
Ten Ways to be Adored When Landing a Lord
by Sarah MacLean

Published October 2010, HARPERCOLLINS (AVON)

From page 16:
"You will not leave me to deal with that sure-to-be disastrous event simply because you fear the attention of a handful of ladies."

"A handful!" Nick protested, "They are a swarm." He paused, considering his options. "I don't really care where I go... as long as there are no women there."

Rock looked alarmed. "None whatsoever?"

Nick laughed for the first time that evening. "Well, not none, obviously. But would it be too much to ask that there be no women that have read that ridiculous magazine?"

Gabriel raised a dark brow. "Very likely so."

Hungry for You (Argeneau, #14)Hungry For You
by Lynsay Sands

Published: November 2010, HARPERCOLLINS (AVON)

From page 42 (e-ARC edition):
Alex would think him a hero, and Cale could woo her...and explain later that he wasn't really a chef and didn't own a restaurant.

He was just relaxing, thinking his problems mostly resolved if he could just get through this night without poisoning anyone, when a gasp from Alex drew his attention.

Book: Cate of the Lost Colony
Author: Lisa Klein

"Sir Walter gave it to me," I said, forgetting Emme's advice to deny everything. What was the point in lying now? And those letters are mine, too," I added.

For a moment the queen was silent. I think she expected me to deny the letters. "Everything is mine, she said coldly. "Get up." (page 111, ARC copy -- highly subject to change)

Book: Torment
Author: Lauren Kate

She was a horrible fake of a daughter, a liar of a friend. And what had she been thinking? These were the blandest, most red-flag-worthy emails ever written. They were only going to freak people out. (page 89, ARC copy -- highly subject to change)

Review on both books to be posted next week!

Author: Cassandra Clare

"So you are saying I am right. This is what is real, and the life I had before was the dream."

"That is correct." Gently Charlotte patted Tessa's shoulder; Tessa almost jumped at the contact. It had been a long time, she thought, since anyone had touched her in a motherly fashion; she thought of Aunt Harriet, and her throat hurt. "And now it is time to wake up." (page 197)

Author: Chelsea Rea Swiggett

My mom says, pretty rudely but fairly, that if I miss school another day, I have to go to the doctor. Even though I know I'm not sick, I say I'll go anyway. I'd rather face a doctor with absolutely no symptoms than walk into school again. (page 44)

Book: Heart of Lies
Author: M.L. Malcolm

It was too much. She was too weak. She stood still, unable to move any farther than the five thousand miles she'd traveled to be there.

Then she saw him, and burst into tears.

In two long strides Leo reached her. (page 124)

Book: The Replacement
Author: Brenna Yovanoff

I wanted to hug her and say that everything was much better than she believed. It was just so strange that she couldn't see.

"Emma-" I got a tight feeling in my throat and started again. "Emma, Mom didn't make me like this. Keep me alive this long...You did." (page 126, ARC copy)

Book: Shadow Blade
Author: Seressia Glass

Kira didn't know how a woman four inches shorter than she, even in heels, could look down on her, but Sanchez managed it. "If you think your Men in Black clones can handle a Fallen, go ahead. But you better make sure your affairs are in order, because you will die. Quickly, if you're blessed." (page 57)

"So here's what you do. You win, you go home. She can't turn you down then, eh?" says Caesar, encouragingly.

"I don't think it's going to work out. Winning... won't help in my case," says Peeta.

"Why ever not?" says Caesar, mystified.

Peeta blushes beet red and stammers out. "Because... because... she came here with me." (page 130)

Book: Dangerous Neighbors
Author: Beth Kephart

I've received and ARC from the author. This book will be published on August, 24, 2010.

"Anna's been gone too long."

"It's early afternoon, child. Your sister will come back."

Time wobbled. Katherine worried. She could sit up now on her own, look across the room without a wave washing in, and calculate the hours Anna had been gone, the possibilities suggested from her absence. The implications. Had Anna been sick, Katherine would not have left her side. She knew as much for certain. (page 68, ARC copy)

Mackenzie nodded and rose, mulling over what Nick had said.

Shapeshifters, spell casters, and now psychics. If Kat really had been feeling her emotions the day before, she wasn't surprised the girl had collapsed. Sometimes she thought the only things keeping her going were fear and adrenaline, but she'd been terrified for so long, she had almost forgotten it was possible to feel anything else. (page 104)

"You always say the same damn things. I've got a short attention span."

He pushed a chair out toward her, it's wooden feet screeking across the pale linoleum, leaving marks. "Sit."

Wrong way to get my attention, she thought. But, he couldn't know how deep disobedience ran in her blood. (page 176)

Book: The Starlet
Author: Mary McNamara

"Juliette, my darling," he said without greeting or preamble, as if they had just spoken the day before. "I had grandiose plans that involved a white horse and an enormous number of roses, but everyone around me is either an idiot or nineteen years old and a non-English speaker. And now I'm afraid you will have to come to me. Because Mercy Talbot overdosed last night." (page 59)

Book: HARD MAGIC
Author: LAURA ANNE GILMAN

This is an ebook, so I had to choose a page number instead of randomly opening the pages.

"The woman leaned toward him, her entire body conveying a sort of desperate conviction, her gaze including the others so that they too leaned in, making sure not to miss what she had to say." (page 84)
